The SDL port is far for being finished.... And mostly I would say that gsKit evolves in parallel...
Some things work well, some other not (buggy or simply not emulated) , I'll try to maintain with gawd a webpage to manage the status (and a bugzilla ?).
I did not try to load BMP yet but even I would test with some other resolution than 640x480x32 !!!
I have issues too with 640x480... Please test with 320x240x16 first :D I had better result in this lower rez

You're lucky, on my side I always have the error msg : cannot handle compressed BMP whatever the BMP and the compression chosen (no, RLE,...)
