Hi Jonny, PMP Mod just gets better and better. I'm off on a five hour flight today and have just downloaded enough video material onto my Datel HDD to last for the flight there and the flight back! The only suggestion I can think of would be an independent volume gain control. The sound volume on va...

While I can see the attraction of 'drag and drop' MPEG4 viewing, right now I think the preferable focus is simply on full-speed, full resolution playback. If a PC app is required to re-encode the content, I don't see that as being a massive hindrance. After all we already have to do just that with a...

Your info is interesting (to me), but I think off topic in the pspdev forum. You may get better feedback at psphacks ( http://www.psphacks.net/forums/ ) or pspupdates ( http://forums.qj.net/forumdisplay.php?f=48 ). As pointed out earlier, it was hardware dissection like this that actually led to th...

Re: 480*272 only version
Don't be so sure about that, I and many others I talked to hate to convert movies for one time view. The only thing I want this player is for just moving the movie to my memstick and watch it. No converting and hassle. And definetly NOT remove the resize code! And it is not the problem. Are there a...

Er, the pic *is* of the damaged part, as it is seen mounted inside the PSP. On the reverse of what you see is the internal power switch, which has a tiny plastic tooth that messes to the external power switch. This is what has broken off. The whole component that has to be replaced is the one shown ...

ale275 - the internal power switch is on the reverse of that component, that's why nothing looks damaged. Trust me, it is. ReKleSS - thanks for the link. The price is extortionate, and I've found a UK repair shop that will do the work for me for around the same price. The PSP2TV mod also appears to ...

Bricked your PSP? Help me fix mine ;)
Hi all, Well, I tried to install the PSP2TV modification that allows you to play PSP on a TV with a dual shock joypad. Well, it's just about done - problem is that the tiny piece of plastic that meshes with the external power switch has broken off. My fault I guess, but the whole installation is a V...

Sorry for the flamebait-ish reply, but why would anyone actually want to use wmv? Especially now that h.264 is available? Anyway, great work everyone involved, I'm looking forward to playing full screen h.264 vids at 24 fps ;) The PMP player looks to be running video decoding in software and there ...

Digihoe - I just tried both MPEG1 and MPEG2 as per your settings. I re-encoded an episode of Desperate Housewives, using AviSynth to resize the video to 480x272 and Cinemacraft to produce the MPEGs. Playback still looked very jerky to me - just my visual perception of course, but I'd say that maybe ...

Gents, come on help me out... I've tried mp4 playback, beautiful picture quality, full speed... no audio Does this not have support for aac? It doesn't look like it. I'm a bit confused that MP4 is that much quicker than AVI encoded in an MPEG4 profile - eg, XviD, DivX. I mean, all the freeware MP4 ...

In Sony's eyes, the fact we can run any kind of executable code on 1.0/1.5 PSPs is a bad thing. A very bad thing. The fact that it is possible to read off UMD is another bad thing, whether or not the resultant dumps can be run or not. Surely the only way to prevent both would be to change the layout...

The huge difference in loadexec must mean something, and I am not talking exploit trash either. Is this responsible for understanding how files are accessed beyond just PSP executable files (multimedia files keyed here to find out how to handle them, perhaps)? If it is strictly tied to executable f...

Depends on your definition of crystal-clear to be honest. The PMS SweetSpot is supposed to be the best consumer level RGB/Component capture device around that the moment, using the same Philips chipset as the much fancied Holograph 3D. The Matrox Meteor II MC's performance annihilates the Sweetspot,...

At the moment, media are receiving no support from Sony in terms of taking our own shots, aside from assurances that dev kits will be sent out. Since those assurances have been coming since March, you'll excuse me for wanting to pursue another solution. In terms of your assertion that every machine ...

If you wish to get screenshots, then ask the developers of the game to provide one for you. Thank you for your helpful post :| All I'll say here is that personally I think it's lazy journalism just to use 'spoon-fed' materials. I also think it short-changes the readers to see the same shots in all ...

PSP Screen Grabber: Help Required
Hello there, After PMing ooPo and getting the all-clear from TPTB, I wonder if I can call upon the expertise of the forum community for a PSP project. Basically, I work for a few video games magazines and producing PSP coverage is hampered by the inability to take screenshots via conventional means....

I wouldn't bother opening it up, besides voiding the warranty you won't find much useful except two flat cables connecting the main board to the LCD panel. I assume the smaller one is for power and the larger for all the digital signals. Can any one with an open/bricked PSP tell me what the dimensi...
