Re: new entry en geo´s blob

On another note, there should be a hypervisor dump floating around next week. What's the policy here regarding that? As always, posting copyrighted material (like a firmware dump) is not allowed. You are allowed to discuss legal methods of obtaining it (such as dumping it yourself) and information ...

I haven't used the toolchain on a ppc mac, but it should work. The script itself may have some problems with osx, but nothing ppc-specific as far as I can tell. To grab the latest source, use: svn checkout svn://svn.ps2dev.org/psp/trunk/psptoolchain svn checkout svn://svn.ps2dev.org/psp/trunk/psplib...

Finding anything for 'homebrew' outside otherOS environment and publishing it will be a certain prelude to piracy because of the way the PS3 is designed. That is the point of this discussion. Do we accept it as a possible, yet unfortunate, outcome of exploring our interests? Or do we continue with ...

I think they frown upon most reversing talk here.
Actually, this is untrue. The intent behind the reversing is important to consider.
If you're not actively working on a method to pirate games you're pretty much free to talk about whatever you want.

So, does anyone feel like rehashing the old bust-the-hypervisor-to-load-homebrew-code discussion? I'm not saying rush out and do it, I'm just observing that many arguments against it have just been made obsolete. :) I mean, since day one Sony has been closing all the interesting holes. Its rather ob...

I would much rather apply these patches directly to the source rather than hack them into the ps2toolchain script.

Will these changes affect building the software on non-OSX machines?

That seems like overkill, and I'd like to avoid adding a generic script in the middle of the depends directory. Perhaps it would be better to do the compile test inside each of the gmp3 and mpfr check scripts?
