You didn't use the special test version for slim PSTwo: http://rapidshare.com/files/112377834/vmlinux.gz.html This version still includes some debug output, which could make it a little bit slow. You need also to select the special interrupt handling modules for slim PSTwo. still no luck... same er...

I'm afraid it's the differences between the PS2 and regular MIPS machines that are the problem so having access to other MIPS hardware doesn't really help very much.
