Decoding File Formats/Packages
Hi guys, I have a PS3 tech demo (but it may as well be PSP or PC for all that I know) where aside from the regular XMB files (gif/png/jpg/etc that are not packaged), however everything else is packed into an extension called ".rb". It doesn't matter what the content is, video, sound, etc, ...

Accuracy of PS2 Emulation
I know the topic may seem like I'm asking for the thread to be locked, but I'm not ;). I was just wondering if any homebrew PS2 coders could tell me how well a PS2 emulator, such as PCSX2, does at executing low-level functions and homebrew code in general (aka something you'd be able to make and com...

I find it a little hard to believe that you work for established video game magazines, or at least are part of the team that works with the technology, but you may very well be. Every system has at least 1 3rd party device that is made for capturing content digitally from game console. Normally thes...

Well this discussion has been all over the place, so I don't mind mucking it up a bit myself =). I have to believe a large reason for using UMD is marketing. Yes, it is also small and optical, but it will never be a consumer format, as Sony has already stated. I'm going to pop out a UMD disc (will p...

I don't think it would even be worth trying to setup a distributed effort at this point, but I do have faith in finding the holy grail (a fatal flaw). After-all, programmers are only people... people who are normally running on redbull and coffee. If someone wanted to waste their excess cycles anywa...

You will need a C compilier, personally I use www.cygwin.com or www.mingw.org . There are lots of how-to's out there, but if you need more help just ask. I don't believe VB can handle the file, but if you have access to Visual Studio you should be able to copy the text into a .c file and build that.

I think the M$ sharp (#) languages can be avoided as well. C/C++ will be used in near everything for years to come, so it's never a waste of time if you learn about either language. Delphi is still my favorite language, but it won't come in handy for much in PSP hacking. Just get into whatever you c...
