data is a pointer and it looks like there is no memory allocated.
so, before you can use memset you have to malloc some memory to the pointer.

according to a post on the SDL mailing list Cell support has been integrated into the SDL svn.
this should speed up media players like mplayer, xine, etc. quite a bit.

It's my impression that the alsa/sound driver has problems on ps3. i have set the driver to nonblock but it looks like the driver still sometimes locks up. wiritei then continuously returns return code -11 and snd_pcm_wait never indicates that the driver becomes ready again. anybody else seen this p...

is ps3vram still working with the latest firmware? Are you running 32-bit userspace and 64-bit kernel on PPC? I don't know if that's been tested extensively, looks like you're hitting some problem with the compat_ioctl32 stuff. Have you tried other applications that are known to work on other platforms (e.g. mplayer)? i ran the driver with mplayer ...
